Odeion: Little Wolves

We hung out in New York City last week and had the pleasure of seeing up-and-coming indie psychwave band, Little Wolves from Los Angeles, California. The band performed at a small bar in East Village called Pianos on Monday night and surpassed our high expectations.

Little Wolves is the brainchild of LA producers Samuel Jacob and Ronnie Watson. The band has a two-song single featuring “Home” and “Lost My Mind” which will be available on their EP Savage, which was produced by Andre Anjos (better known as RAC). The band has gained a following online that has secured them over 3 million streams on Soundcloud.

Upon walking in the small room, one would not believe that Little Wolves had never performed in New York City before. As their set time grew closer, the room filled and was much larger than a typical crowd for an opener. People immediately crowded to the front, completely under the act’s spell.

They opened the show with dancey track “Lost My Mind” and then “Alone,” two tracks featured on their Soundcloud page, and moved into tracks that are currently unreleased. These tracks included “Body Call,” “Home,” “Take it Slow,”and “Hypnotized.” By mid-set, the whole crowd had gravitated to the front of the venue and was absorbed with the band’s charisma. The band had said “Hypnotized” would be their last song, but after some pleading, ended the show with their track “Cigarettes and Geminis.”
